Trans-Nemwil is now Guardian General Insurance (OECS) Limited

St. George’s, Grenada, September 30, 2015:  With effect from October 1, 2015, Trans-Nemwil Insurance (Grenada) Limited will officially be re-named and rebranded as Guardian General Insurance (OECS) Limited.  The rebranding of Trans-Nemwil forms part of a major strategic exercise by Guardian Holdings Limited and all its subsidiaries in Trinidad and Tobago, Jamaica, Barbados, the Eastern, Northern, and Dutch Caribbean, under the single brand “Guardian Group”. With a product suite that includes Life and Health Insurance and Pension products, all classes of General Insurance and Asset Management, Guardian Group is the brand that represents the leading financial services and insurance group in the Caribbean.

Trans-Nemwil became a subsidiary of Guardian General Insurance Ltd in 2007 and over the past five years, has leveraged Guardian’s Information Technology and other technical capabilities to improve service delivery to its clients. While most of Guardian General’s standards and operational policies are already in place, effective October 1, 2015, the new brand identity will be adopted, allowing for full alignment with the rest of the Group.  As Guardian General Insurance (OECS) Limited, the company will become even more fully integrated into the Guardian Group brand and be better able to provide service to its clients.

The new name reflects the future sphere of operation and responsibility of the company, as going forward, this company will be the standard bearer for Guardian Group in the OECS space. This decision was taken in anticipation of new harmonized insurance legislation to be passed in the OECS territories. One element of that piece of legislation is a requirement that insurance providers incorporated outside the OECS space who intend to operate within the OECS will be required to incorporate a company and obtain a license in at least one of the OECS territories. Once achieved, this will allow passport to other OECS member countries without the rigors of having to individually apply for a license in each jurisdiction they wish to enter. The structure of this company provides a ready-made vehicle to Guardian Group to serve this purpose.

Guardian General Insurance (OECS) Limited, under its new brand identity, remains a major player in the general insurance market in Grenada, underwriting Property, Motor, Liability, Accident and Marine Insurance. The rebrand exercise however does not affect existing contracts, policies and official documents issued directly by the company, or through its agents Bryden and Minors Limited and Demerara Mutual Life Insurance Society or its brokers.  Ronald Hughes, Managing Director stressed that Trans-Nemwil Insurance (Grenada) Limited has been a strong well-known local brand and will continue to be managed by the same management team. The very people that have served our clients in the past will continue to do so. This exciting change means that our company will now carry the brand identity of the largest indigenous financial planning and insurance group, operating in 21 countries in the Dutch and English speaking Caribbean.

According to Mr. Hughes, “Going forward, under a new single brand it would be easier for customers and non-customers to identify and have confidence in the size, strength and reach of the group across the Caribbean and the wide range of services we provide. With this single brand, it will again be easier to make a difference in the communities which we serve.”

Guardian Group is the new single brand of the largest indigenous financial services and insurance group in the English and Dutch Caribbean.  Guardian Group operates across the Region including the Eastern and Northern Caribbean, Trinidad and Tobago, Barbados, Jamaica and the Dutch Caribbean. The Group includes the parent company, Guardian Holdings Limited, Guardian Asset Management in Trinidad and Tobago; Guardian Life of the Caribbean and Guardian General Insurance Ltd. in Trinidad and Tobago and Barbados; Guardian Life Limited and Guardian General Insurance Jamaica Ltd., in Jamaica; Fatum Holdings N.V. and all of its subsidiaries in Curacao and Aruba and across the Dutch Caribbean.  While the companies within the group remain separate legal entities, they all now carry a single brand name, logo and tagline, solidifying Guardian Group as the single largest brand in the insurance and financial services sector in the English and Dutch Caribbean with a rich legacy of over 165 years.
